SWP Calculator

Plan a regular income from your investments with a Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP). Enter your starting corpus, monthly withdrawal, expected return and period to see whether the money lasts, how much is left at the end and the highest monthly income it can sustain.

Calculations are for illustrative purposes only and do not guarantee returns. Actual SIF returns vary with market conditions; taxes, exit loads and expenses are not included.

How the SWP calculator works

Each month the withdrawal is taken out first, and the remaining balance then grows at the monthly rate (annual return ÷ 12). If the balance can no longer cover a full withdrawal, the calculator shows when the corpus runs out.

An annual withdrawal increase raises the monthly amount each year, which helps your income keep up with inflation but uses up the corpus faster.

Maximum sustainable withdrawal

The calculator also finds the highest starting monthly withdrawal that lasts the full period at your chosen return and step-up, a useful ceiling when planning retirement income.

Frequently asked questions

What is an SWP?

A Systematic Withdrawal Plan lets you redeem a fixed amount from an investment at regular intervals while the rest stays invested.

How long will my corpus last with an SWP?

It depends on the withdrawal amount, the return on the remaining balance and any annual increase. Enter these above and the calculator shows the month the corpus runs out, if it does.

Are SWP withdrawals taxed?

Each withdrawal is treated as a redemption, so capital gains tax may apply to the gain portion. This calculator does not include taxes.
