Goal Planner

Work backwards from a financial goal, such as retirement, a home or education, to the monthly SIP you need today. The planner inflates the goal to future prices, credits your existing savings and shows both the SIP and the one-time investment required.

Calculations are for illustrative purposes only and do not guarantee returns. Actual SIF returns vary with market conditions; taxes, exit loads and expenses are not included.

How the goal planner works

First, the goal is converted to future prices: future goal = goal today × (1 + inflation)ⁿ. Your existing savings are grown at the expected return, and the remaining gap is what new investment has to cover.

The planner then solves for the monthly SIP (with optional annual step-up) that fills the gap by the goal date, and the lumpsum you would need to invest today instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the goal planner adjust for inflation?

A goal that costs ₹1 crore today will cost more in the future. Planning for the inflated amount avoids falling short at the goal date.

What if I already have savings for this goal?

Enter them under “Already invested for this goal”. They are projected forward and reduce the SIP you need.

Should I use a step-up SIP for long-term goals?

A step-up lowers the starting SIP because the amount rises each year, which can make a large goal more manageable early on.
