How the SIP calculator works
Each monthly instalment is invested at the start of the month and compounds at the monthly rate (annual return ÷ 12) until the end of the period. Without a step-up, this is the standard SIP future value formula:
FV = P × [((1 + r)ⁿ − 1) ÷ r] × (1 + r), where P is the monthly SIP, r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months.
For example, ₹10,000 a month for 10 years at 12% a year grows to about ₹23.2 lakh, of which ₹12 lakh is the amount you invested.
Step-up SIP and inflation
A step-up raises your SIP by a fixed percentage every year, which usually matches rising income better than a flat amount. Turn on the inflation view to see what the final corpus is worth in today’s money.
Frequently asked questions
What return should I assume in a SIP calculator?
Use a rate that reflects the asset class and your time horizon, and test a range. The calculator shows conservative and optimistic scenarios 3 percentage points either side of your chosen rate.
Is the SIP calculator result guaranteed?
No. Market-linked returns vary year to year. The result is an illustration at a constant rate and does not include taxes, exit loads or expenses.
Can I share my SIP calculation?
Yes. Your inputs are saved in the page link, so “Share link” copies a URL that opens the same scenario.
